Anxiety and Triggers- Overcoming PTSD and Avoidance

maxresdefault

Triggers
In this video I’m going to teach you what a trigger is, how they get formed, the one thing you do that makes them worse, and the basic principle behind how to overcome them.
A “Trigger” is the common term for a psychological principle- paired association. Which simply means anything that reminds someone of previous trauma or danger. To be triggered is to have an intense emotional or physical reaction, such as a panic attack, after encountering a trigger. Triggers have gotten a lot of attention recently, with the word being overused to mean someone who takes offense, or even as an excuse as in: “I was triggered by your actions so I ( yelled, had to leave, got high, etc).” But today we’re going to talk about Triggers as they relate to anxiety and PTSD.

As far as triggers go-there’s an interesting new trend : Trigger warnings- as in “Hey guys I’m going to be talking about some intense topic so look out” But these warnings may be actually making things worse because most people have no idea what to do with real triggers- other than avoid them.
Understanding Triggers…

Get Audible right here https://www.audible.com/fatheringautism or text fatheringautism to 500-500 to join Priscilla in the wonderfulness of Audible!

Isaiah caught us doing the TikToky in the living room! I think I just created a monster! At the time of typing this description Priscilla is rocking some Audible lol. Let me know what books I should read. I love personal and business development as well as books on autism…like books written by people that have autism themselves or have a profound understanding of autism. Priscilla likes things a little darker apparently.

Why Jake Paul is Wrong to Say Anxiety is ‘Created by You’

maxresdefault

YouTuber Jake Paul is under fire yet again for claiming anxiety is “created by you” and can be cured by “[reminding] yourself to be happy.” Psychologist Dr. Vaile Wright explained that anxiety disorder is a mental illness and should be taken seriously like any other health condition. “If someone had diabetes for example, we wouldn’t tell them it was all in their head.” Paul was quick to backtrack, saying the tweet was meant to raise awareness. Watch more How to Understand Alcoholism videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/517397-Does-Alcohol-Affect-Women-Differently-Alcoholism

People are often curious about the effects of alcohol on women vs. the effects of alcohol on men. In fact, alcohol does affect women differently than men for a couple of reasons.

The first is that women actually in their body mass have less water than men have in their bodies. So when they drink, they actually have higher concentrations of alcohol sitting in their bodies than do men. Another cause of the difference for women is that women have less of an enzyme in their body naturally occurring that breaks down alcohol. So a man and a woman who are of the same weight and body stature will have very different effects of the same amount of alcohol. And that is, again, because a woman will break down the alcohol much more slowly than the man. And also will absorb the alcohol at a higher rate than the man will.

So a woman will get drunk more quickly than a man on the same amount of alcohol and will stay affected by the alcohol for a longer period of time than a man. Because of this, women and men when they’re drinking together, a woman really has to think about how much she’s drinking in comparison to her male companion.
